Vocational Training

At HKIDB, we firmly believe that work or employment is a crucial step towards the rehabilitation and empowerment of individuals with disabilities.

Engaging in vocational training provides a sense of belonging, independence, and fosters social inclusion and overall well-being for our beneficiaries.

Our Vocational Training Unit aims to equip learners with the necessary knowledge, skills, and competencies for successful job performance.

All our students take part in diverse training programs tailored to their abilities and creativity.

Training includes the following trades

Candle making

To improve the beneficiaries’ skill in making different designs of fancy, decorative and colourful candles. 

Dhoop Making

To strengthen the beneficiaries’ skills in mixing of DEP and perfume with correct ratio and proportion, drying and packing through adaptor for high support need beneficiaries. 

Jewellery/toran making

To enhance beneficiaries’ skills to make different designs of jewellery of semi-precious stones and terracotta and variety of torans.

Seasonal products

To empower beneficiaries in making, decorating and packing seasonal products like rakhis, diyas, Christmas stockings for exhibitions.

Culinary skills

To enrich beneficiaries basic cooking/culinary skills like washing, cutting, peeling, grinding, baking, packing and making snacks, chocolates, masalas and simple meals. 

Paper bag making skills

To develop efficiency in making different designed paper bags from waste braille paper. 

Solar dryer activities

To provide training in making solar dried Amla candies.

Pottery activities

There is no better moment than witnessing a child’s joy as they work with clay for the first time. Few art mediums kindle growth &  skills like clay does. The experience of working with clay is invaluable for sensory development, motor skills &self expression along with a uniquely therapeutic quality that has a calming effect. We provide training in pottery wherein they make small designer pots, planter, lockets, necklaces, Ganpati and small articles of Clay. 

soap/phenyl making skills

To provide training in making herbal soaps and phenyl

The items crafted during training are sold at exhibitions, generating revenue to support the program.

Our primary goal is to provide our learners with skills that can be used productively to achieve financial independence. Through their enhanced competence, they have the potential to establish their own enterprises or collaborate with professionals in the field to create livelihood opportunities.
